RHYMES WITH HAMBURGER

A junker may pay $25 for exclusive shopping the first day of the MARBURGER ANTIQUE SHOW from 10 am until 2:00pm.  It is the best $25 spent.  The reason we pay out the nose is so we can view the incredibly imaginative booths and displays these dealers create out of thin air, dust, blood, sweat & tears.  Really.  That and the fact that the shoppers come through like Sherman thru Jawja and buy it up and take it away!  Trust us.  You need to think about budgeting that extra dough-ray-me in for the Spring Show.  We were blown away by the beauty, talent and uniqueness of it all----and that is just the dealers!!!!  Here is the first booth we saw:  Peg & Jon Van Dyne of FRENCH VANILLA...Oooo la la and OMG.  We voted this booth our personal best----lest we injure feelings of our other friends we loved ALL your booths and bow down to your collective/individual talents. xooxox

Virgins Saints and Sinners.......Donna and Tina

TEXAS 2 064

These girls are from Louisiana but, they have a true Texas spirit.  You have just got to check out their website, virginssaintsandsinners.com.  They sell the coolest stuff, great necklaces and T-shirts and lots of Texas bling, we love their logo with the wings and monogram.  So sweet, they host a sin party at the Warrenton show and serve their famous Sin Juice........Much fun to be had by all.  Lulu purchased her entire outfit for the gypsy prom from them.  (Except for the famous boots, you already know about those......) so check these girls out.......Love yall, Lauri and Lulu

What We Did on our Trip to Warrenton/Round Top and can blog about

I'm feeling a bit frisky with our new layout so I'm going 'Pink'!  We know...we've jumped around with a few blogs we just HAD to post.  We'll settle down and get all the good stuff out to you RIGHT AFTER we make a few pronouncements(on advice of the attorney who witnessed our baggage brou-ha-ah).

First, we'd like to apologize to Don Weir.  I am quite sure we embarrassed him to NO END each time we saw him.  'OOOOOOH HEEEEEEEEEEEEEY DON!!!!!'  We promise we are stalkers but mean no harm.

Second, we'd like to reiterate that 'What happens in Warrenton stays in Warrenton". BUT it doesn't say anything about Round Top, Brenham, New Ulm, Columbus, etc.

Third, we'd like to just say how much we truly appreciated those who weren't scared to talk to us.  We can be a bit overwhelming...especially if we see butter pats, chippy wooden columns, ironstone, baby heads, mercury glass, vintage hats, medical oddities, Don Weir, Cowboy Andy...   You get the idea.

Fourth, we'd like to thank all the brave ladies for admitting that they actually read this blog.  We know it is probably is a vice most folks would rather deny than admit, sort of like certain Baptists who 'don't drink' but can recite the Bar Tender's Book of Every Drink Ever Made & Consumed.

Fifth (no not A fifth, see above), we'd like to tell everyone we saw/met how much you all inspire us.  It is not possible to express in words the amount of positive energy, love and kinship we feel when we're with you, however We will attempt to put it out on our blog ad nauseum.

Sixth, we'd like to direct any requests for appearances, autographs etc be directed to Theresa Cano.  Yes, it's true lulu made the Show Daily.  Theresa is our agent and handles all fees and media events.

Speaking of Theresa....here is her booth at Zapp Hall, baby.  Enjoy. no words nec.

Billy-Bob Crackhead

Folks at this time I would like to introduce you to the newest member of the crackhead family, Billy Bob.......yes yes, he's from Texas.......I just couldn't resist him.......sitting there looking all Texan on his little stand.   And of course baby is in love with him........she insisted on staying in the cottage all week with him, while we were shopping in Texas......I also bought the little pixie to keep an eye on them.   More later, cheers, Lauri

TEXAS 2 080

WE INTERRUPT THIS BLOG FOR THE FOLLOWING NEWS

I'm Sorry you're over weight!

Four words I, lulu, have NEVER heard spoken to moi in my  life!!!!  The Delta Baggage Beasty informed the BOTH of us that we were over the load limit in our respective bags.  Thinking that $50 each for overage wouldn't be bad we happily whipped out the smokin' credit cards for payment. WRONG.  Apparently word got out that we'd been shopping Round Top and therefore a Junk-in-your-trunk penalty was initiated ( And we thought the trucker scales were bad...).  Lauri's load was more egregious with a whopping weight of 75 lbs and $140 penalty.  Mine was a mere welterweight of 66 lbs with a $90 penalty-no S*(#.  Lauri was given the option of removing 5 lbs of 'stuff'.  Do you know how heavy butter pats are? Very. Fall Texas 2008 145

The Beasty''s sidekick, Jose Cuervo, asked what all those packages were.  Lauri told him they were butter pats.  He then asked us why we carried pieces of butter around and wouldn't it melt all over the clothes?  What genuis!  I believe he is the flip side of Darwin's 'Survival of the Fittest'....Survival of the Dimmest.  Really.

Sometimes we really feel like Lucy and Ethel in our outings.  We had so much junk out on the floor of the terminal.  We created such a ruckus.  I am glad we got to the airport FOUR HOURS PRIOR to our flight.  So much time to avoid arrest.  The earlier flight to Atlanta was full so we were left to wander.  We went through security without incident.  This is a major accomplishment.  We rewarded ourselves with a cool beverage and some nachos.  I, lulu, needed to use the ladies room and proceeded to find the nearest NON-PORTA-POTTY.  It was then I discovered that 1.  it was 55 minutes to our flight and 2.  we were in the WRONG PART OF THE TERMINAL> AND HAD TO GO THROUGH SECURITY AGAIN.    W.T.F.

Ladies and Gents I WAS AFRAID.  Firstly, I am so dumb.  I looked at the T.V. and saw Eastern Time and forgot we were still in Central TIme Zone. I made her get off of the phone to her BELOVED SON b/c I thought we were going to miss the plane.  THEN I had to tell HER we had to go through a different security line which meant the cowboy boots had to come off for a second TIME.  Oh dear.  I hate when she looks at me with that crack head fake smile.  I RAN to the other line hoping I would avoid her until after the second pat down.  As I was putting on my boots I heard a shrill noise and some 'dang dang dang dang dang dang'.  Lauri was in her verbal stage of delivering a bitch-slap to the woman who had the nerve to put her shoes back on right in line instead of moving to the more comfortable seating area.  I hid.  When I saw no one being taken away in handcuffs I knew I'd see her at the gate.  Even baby hid...Fall Texas 2008 146 SO...our plane was going from Houston to Atlanta to Dubai.  I told Lauri we needed to REALLY pay attention otherwise we might end up in some other dusty, windy place wearing polka dotted burkas.....aaaaay!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Chippys post.

Rubbish,Trash&Junkin'Queens Found Around Here

The following took place on Saturday September 27th.  The names have NOT been changed to protect the innocent.

Oh, what a beautiful MORNING!  We awoke to Texas sunshine and a will to SHOP.  First stop to Cole's Antique Show to visit Janet @ Rubbish!  She has an incredible eye and art of display.  Neutrals are her forte. Have a look:

I must tell you Lauri SWOONED over the amount of butter pats Janet amassed.  I carry smelling salts for such instances.  In fact, I have so many that I get a discount from the medical supply company.  On to our next victim...

Located in the midst of Bar W Field we find Renee Jackson of A Junkin' Queen & Susan & Andy Broyles of Found Around.  Words cannot describe the treasure trove of good stuff.  Fall Texas 2008 015The first photo is a serving cart made of HOTEL SILVER!!!!!

We spent so much time with them that we lost track of time and decided to take a siesta with Theresa Cano.  As we were meandering along we found the BABYHEAD ALTAR!   We showed these back in the spring, but see if you can see the 'new' baby head (hint: look in the back row)!Fall Texas 2008 022

We were chased off from the booth due to excessive keening and flailing about so our spirits were COMPLETELY LIFTED when we ran into two incredibly fabulous, talented and ultra-hip Texans:  CHRIS BROWN of Urban Prairie and REFUELED & CHERYL of STASH STUDIOS!!!!!  I thought Lauri was going to stroke out!

Fall Texas 2008 023 Fall Texas 2008 024 Cheryl is GORGEOUS!

lulu had to be picked up off the ground--her attempts a debutante bow caused her to fall on her keester-- lawud.  We can't go anywhere...

Well we CAN go to Garden Antqs Vintage.  And lo and behold there SHE was: TALKIN WHITE TRASH  aka Deb York.  riding shotgun was SISTER TRASH and CAT DADDY!!!  We had an adult beverage or two and talked  TRASH 'til the cows came home.  We skedaddled after laughing so hard our insides hurt.  We had to preen for the soiree that evening....stay tuned for more tawdry tales from the twisted chippys.  xo  lulu and lauri
