Thelma, Louise, or Maxine????

Well, I wanted to let you all know that my mother is doing sooooooo much better. I have hesitated about saying anything lately, afraid I would jinx her, but she is showing some great improvement.........I am just not sure who she is these days. My brothers both visited with her this week and called me to say that on Monday she was a little snippy with one of them and asked for her car, then she instructed my sister-in-law to go out to her car and get her cigarettes!!!!!(she doesn't smoke.) Then yesterday when she was in therapy she walked to the end of the parallel bars and then said she wanted to keep on walking so they walked her up and down the hall for awhile. We can't believe it last week she was not walking or eating. Then today when I got there, her nurse met me in the hall and said that she had eaten all of her breakfast and most of her lunch. WOW!!!! This is such good news.....then she said SHE had fired most of the staff........bummer. Well, I knew when I walked in and she was behind the nurses station sitting at the desk looking at papers, we were in trouble. So I am not sure who we are dealing with here but, I am just so grateful she is alive and doing well in rehab. I just hope they don't call me and tell me she can't stay anymore. And I have decided if she starts drinking I'll load her up in the car and take her to Texas with us!!!!......Cheers, Lauri

Hey girl...So happy to hear your Mom is up and about...even if she's up and about and not quite herself. She went through a very difficult time, and the brain defintely needs time to mend. I have days when I feel like Thelma, Louise and Maxine all rolled into one, and I'm feeling fine!!! LOL Have a great week...*elaine*

Bring her on Laurie...I bet she could teach us a thing or two about having a good time especially with booze and ciggies!
Seriously, I am so happy to hear your great news. Believe it or not, after my mother's bypass surgery while she was in the rehab (doesn't that sound funny to say about our mothers?) she had some bizarre behaviour as well. It leveled out after a while. I think there is a certain amount of disorientation for a short time. But is she is up and walking, fantastic...next thing you know she'll be looking for a dance partner.
Love you,
Debbie AKA Trash

Laurie, our mom had a brain clot, had two long visits with the operating room and we were given little hope of her making it through and or functioning on her own if she lived. Although we lost her two years ago-she lived a fully functioning life up until the end. We lost the whole month of May, 1998 to the hospital and then a couple of weeks to rehab. She surprised us all with her recovery! Mom was never quite the same but close enough to be our Mom! Just a little quirky!

Great news! Don't be surprised if she is dating the man down the hall tomorrow! :)

I think we're gonna have to take her to Happy Hour and ALl-You-Can-Eat Buffet at the Airport Hilton. Who knows...maybe even a trip with Lauri's Aunt Betty to Beau Rivage in Biloxi...luck be a lady tonight!

Glad you have a sense of humor! She will do fine. I have always wanted Thelma and Louise's car!
