Thanks for the gift.........

I saw my brother this week, and he gave me this photo........It is me and my older sister. He has been given the task of going through all of mothers pictures, and believe me there are 1000's. I had to smile when I saw this picture though, I had not seen it in years. If it were clearer you would see the beautiful detail in the handmade dresses we are wearing that match. I remember mother saying that she too had a dress like it that she made to match us. Of course, she was never in the pictures always taking them. As I sat this week sewing and making drapes for Adam's new house I thought about what a gift my mother had given me in teaching me how to sew. It has done many things for me in my life. It has made an income for me for sometime, I was especially popular when Adam played football, because I sewed all the patches on the letter jackets, I've altered many a girlfriends or neighbors dresses, and I have done many darling nursery's for clients and friends. I owe a lot to my mom for teaching me this talent. Thank you mother and to you goes all the glory. I just want to say to all of my friends who still have your mama, give her a big hug for me and think about how much they mean to you while they are still here. Happy Holidays, Lauri

Lakewood Show

I had a great show at Lakewood this weekend. It was so good to see everyone and get out. And I actually had a lot of sales. I couldn't believe it lots of people were out and buying. I sold a lot of Christmas and several necklaces. I was so excited, people are still interested in the Junk Necklaces. And a big ole thanks to my sweet friend Kim for coming to see me and not freaking out, cause I cried. And to Miss Sassy Trash for giving me a big hug. There are so many wonderful folks in the junk business you just got to know this is a great place to be........And thanks to all of my regulars who all came out and bought something. (I don't know if they really wanted the stuff or they just thought I needed the boost.) Anyway it went a long way toward my therapy. I love you all, Lauri

Merry Christmas everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

French Larkspur and a little angel.........

Today I got a sweet email from a little angel in Texas, I bet you can guess who......Yes, Miss Debbie at Talking Trash had a found the sweetest poem and sent me the link. So this made my day today and probably a lot more days to come. Thank you Debbie for thinking of me and for your sweet friendship, I love you more that words can say.......Here's the link to the blog you will love it..........http://frenchlarkspur.blogspot.com/2009/12/gifts.html and here' s the sweetest poem I have ever read..........lauri

I'm Spending Christmas With Jesus This Year

I see the countless Christmas trees
Around the world below;
With the tiny lights, like Heaven's stars
Reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular,
Please wipe away that tear;
Because I'm spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs
That people hold so dear;
But the sounds of any music can't compare
With the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you
The joy their voices bring;
It is beyond description
To hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart;
But it's only for a while
That we will be apart.

I'll ask Him to light your spirit
As I tell Him of your love;
So please pray for one another
As you lift eyes above.
I can't tell you of the splendor
Or the peace here in this place.
Can you imagine Christmas
With our Saviour...face to face?

Please let your hearts be joyful
And let your spirit sing;
I'm spending Christmas in Heaven
And I am walking with the King.

PORCH Magazine

Just wanted to let you all know about this awesome issue of PORCH Magazine, if you have never gotten this magazine before you must see this one. It is all about the Texas shows and others and has some wonderful pics of all your favorites. Wait till you see the ones of Theresa Smiths' booth it is heavenly. And that is Shelley's booth on the cover and I can't believe it but my necklaces are on the back. That Polly is just a jewel. I was so surprised. What a boost and boy I needed it. I warn you if you haven't been to the Texas shows you will want to go after seeing this book. And Leftovers is in there, and that is a delight all by itself.......

If you don't know about Polly she is just the sweetest person I have ever met. She featured my necklaces in a past issue of PORCH and I was so proud. This past show I was lucky enough to get to meet her and her darling husband Steve. Check her out in the latest Romantic Homes Magazine, it is just a delightful read. She has so many talents I can't list them all but, her very best one is the ability to make you feel like you have known her your whole life, the first time you meet her. She is such a spiritual person and I feel so fortunate to have gotten to know her.

I also, want to thank all of you who have left the sweetest comments ever and please know they really do help. I am coming along slowly, I just can't seem to leave the house, but I am working on it. Its been kind of nice, I am sitting for one of my friends kitties and and he likes to cuddle. And this is good as I am also missing my sweet Puffin, who left the day after my Mom did. I guess it was her time too. Lauri

Goodbye Norma Jean..........

I apologize for being away for a while, I just couldn't see through the tears to do a post. And now it is still difficult but, I wanted to let all my blog friends know that my sweet mama passed away last Thursday afternoon. She had fought the good fight and probably was ready to go much sooner than I was but, I just couldn't let her go. Yes, she was difficult and always drove me crazy with her independence but, somehow all those memories go away at a time like this, and all you can remember are the sweet and wonderful things she did and how much she made me feel like I was the most important person in the world. I don't think I will ever be the person my mother was but, I will try. I thank all of you who have emailed me and kept me going with your sweet comments and prayers and I continue to ask for your prayers as I am still broken. Please bring on the healing as I am gonna miss her so........ you may all have read this but, I wanted to share this sweet poem with you......Smiling through the tears, Lauri

A Limb Fallen
A limb has fallen from the family tree,
I keep hearing a voice that says "Grieve Not for Me".
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song,
The good life I lived while I was still strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you,
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest,
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small,
Go on with your life, don't just stare at the wall.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,
Until the day comes we're all together again.

Just a few more Wedding shots......

I didn't get any real good shots of the table set ups, just out of sorts that day. I will have to wait for the photographers pictures to show you those. I can't believe it has been a week since the Wedding. I am still getting things back to normal. This is one of the set ups that has the sunflowers in orange and the orange water pearls in the vases, there were 6 tables that had these, the others were a mixture of the wrought iron pumpkins with candles and the little pumpkins and gourds all around.
This was the Cinderella Carriage pumpkin and the signing book.......

Me and my sweet nephew, Kerry who flew in from Nevada for the Wedding.......

And the very best surprise, Norman and Kodi, Adams' ABAC buddies who came all the way from New Orleans for the Wedding. These guys made the day........ They are the only thing that got me through the college years when Adam was at Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, GA. I love these guys, they are so sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Katie and Caroline, my sweet friend Lisa's daughter.........this is the closest, I will ever get to a daughter........... she was so sweet to hand out the programs for the wedding and keep the book.
I promise to post about something else, next time. Thanks for indulging me......Lauri

More Texas..........

Miss Texas T, Theresa Cano, is responsible for this photo, Shelly, Me, and TOT in Theresa booth at Zapp Hall.......Theresa is a little Texas Jewel and truly the roving reporter of the Texas shows......'cause none of us would know about any of it if she didn't let us know. She always goes out of her way to make the blog party so special and anyone who visits with her feel like they are at home. Keep in mind the woman is in the middle of a cow pasture and the nearest Walmart or grocery is about 30 miles away and some how she manages to pull off a spread that would make Country Living drool. And you can always count on some celebrity being there like, Cat Daddy or someone......Love you so much Miss T and thanks for all your planning and hard work. On another note several folks had asked me about my Glamarella Junk slip that I was wearing at the party. Is it not the cutest thing? Thanks Sherry for making me cowboy chic. I got it last year and just love it. Who could not love wearing a slip around?????? And while we were there we snagged one for TOT at Virgins Saints and Sinners, but I think hers was from another girl. Here's a photo of the famous Miss T and her hubby Cruz, who is a hoot.......I'm teaching him how to speak Mexican.........
TOT and I had to make a quick detour over to the Texas Rose Show to see some cool linen pants that Kim Chaison was wear at the blog party so I just had to go by and see Hector the Collector, and who was right there with him but, Maggie of The Veranda, gorgeous things in this girls booth. I wanted it all and I loved her displays, alot like mine with clutter, clutter and even more clutter. I just don't know why I tend to clutter things up.....but, I do.

I 'bout lost my mind when I saw these lamps.....they were fabulous............

How fabo was this metal set of drawers, I could hardly resist it, but I already had taken up my share of space in the back of Theresa's box truck, so I resisted. And what is it about all that clutter, I love it. I wanted a photo of Maggie but, she said no, so you will just have to check her out yourself.......
Love the crucifixes and religious stuff in Hectors space..........

Back at Marburger, I got to make some photos before the show of the Skip to Maloo jewelry lady.......I have forgotten her name again.....Janet something, what is it Trash? She had so many beautiful things this time and I am glad I got the shots because, when we went back on Wednesday all the ones I had spied were gone. Boohoo.......

I am sick I didn't get this gorgeous bracelet with the silver pill or snuff boxes......ugh.....snooze you loose! All of her things were just amazing, so glad I got to see her again. More later, you know like Magnolia Pearl........Cheers, Lauri
